One way to think of the value of interviews is for you to be interviewed by others. It's a great way to build credibility and gain exposure. I had the pleasure of being interviewed this week by Josh Hinds of Business Networking Advice. You can read the interview here.
Now here is the real gem I learned from this experience. My expanding awareness on this has been dawning for a few weeks now. There is a tremendous win-win that comes from interviews with experts when you are the interviewer! Josh is a perfect model of this.
He has a site dedicated to asking others to give advice on an important topic, business networking. He is the conduit for great learning and is seen as knowing a lot of experts! That association alone is powerful. Plus I perceive Josh as committed to serving his target market and searching high and low to give them as much knowledge as possible.
So while these interviews build the credibility and awareness of the expert, Josh enhances his image and is linked like crazy all over the Internet. That's a good thing. Plus I imagine Josh is learning so much as he generously supports the success of others. From a Law of Attraction point of view, this generosity comes around to provide recognition of Josh and promotes his availability to speak on the topic of business networking.
And the beauty of it all is the ease with which this happens. Some of Josh's interviews come from a simple email exchange where the expert answers Josh's questions in a "self-interview" of sorts. That is how we did my interview! We talked first to get the gist of the advice I would give and off I went, on my own time, to write my advice and success story. This is an elegantly simple way to communicate knowledge with the world with the greatest of ease. I love it!
This is the biggest new marketing idea to keep popping up for me. Thanks, Josh, for teaching us the value and ease of connection with others and the easy way to leverage interviews for both sides.
